Fresh & Frozen Meat

Our meat department offers you both fresh and frozen cuts and value-added meat products. We are proud to offer almost entirely local or regionally produced products including beef, chicken, buffalo, pork, geese and ducks. Before we carry products from any producer, we ask questions to learn about and determine their growing practices. We like to know if their products are free-range, antibiotic-free and if it is grass-fed. We focus on providing meat that secures animal welfare and the economic prosperity of family farmers.

For Thanksgiving and other holidays we carry turkeys and hams. Throughout the year, we can usually source a certain meat or cut if we do not carry it. Call the store and ask for Andy (pictured above) in our meat department or e-mail him.

Your Neighborhood Butcher

Our talented Meat Manager, Andy, creates many unique items prepared and seasoned in-house. This includes, bratwursts produced with local pork, sweet and spicy ground beef, Christmas sausage, Cajun chicken and more. Look for a sticker with Andy's photo to help identify these products. In addition, Andy produces a unique pizza sausage for Vesuvius Wood Fired Pizza in South Ames. Look for it on their pizzas!

If you have a question regarding meat preparation or meat cuts feel free to ask Andy the next time you are in the store.

Seafood

We take providing you with fresh seafood seriously. We know the controversies and work hard to find you the most eco, wild or farmed, low mercury or mercury free, and non overfished varieties available. Sometimes our seafood selection varieties will change, reflecting availability in the sustainable fish market.  Monterray Bay's rating system guides our seafood purchasing decisions.
