The labeling of genetically modified
ingredients (GMOs) has become increasingly important to many
consumers. It is a complicated and complex issue as more GMO crops are deregulated and
cross-contamination is more prevalent.
A recent Thomson Rueters Pulse
Healthcare Survey showed that 93 percent of Americans believe GMO
foods should be labeled - currently labeling of GMO's is not required. Last year the Just Label It! campaign garnered over 1 million comments
that expressed to the FDA that GMO foods need to be labeled. More than 40 nations have GMO labeling (USDA National Statistical Service).
At Wheatsfield you may see the Non
GMO Project logo on various packaged grocery products. This
project offers the only third party verification in North America for
GMO avoidance in food products.
