Co-ops around the world generally operate according to the same core seven principles and values, adopted by the International Cooperative Alliance in 1995.  Cooperatives trace the roots of these principles to the first modern cooperative founded in Rochdale, England in 1844.

The seventh principle is "Concern for Community." At Wheatsfield, we seek to be a model of an environmentally aware, socially just, community based business. We believe that we have an active role to play in the local community in building thriving, sustainable relationships between members, the local community and the environment.

The menu items to the left are some of the ways we are involved in Ames and the Central Iowa community.
