Everyone can shop, anyone can join! A co-op is a business owned by it's members. As a cooperative, we serve our members, employees, and the Central Iowa Community.

It is our mission to offer the highest quality local, natural and certified organic foods, related products and services in ways that best promote the health of the individual, the community, and the earth and honor the cooperative tradition. Since 1974, when Wheatsfield was established as a buying club on the ISU campus, to our recently expanded store today, we seek to bring maximum flavor and maximum nutrients to your table.

We're so much more than a grocery store! Our mission, the seven co-op principles, our history and our dedication to local food and producers are what makes us a unique fun place to shop. We invite you to stop in! We're open 362 days a year (closed for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Day) 8am to 9pm. We enjoy being a unique feature in the Ames community.
